Latest Football news from Arsenal Fc reveals “Confirmed: Napoli sign David Ospina”
Arsenal football club of England have confirmed that David Ospina has completely joined Napoli on a permanent basis in a transfer deal believed to be worth around €4 million.
The now ex-gunner and Colombia international who was on loan at the Napoli Stadium, Estadio San Paolo last year made 24 appearances as he challenged for a first team place with young Italian Alex Meret.
In reality, Ospina’s exit has been a long time coming.
In his Arsenal days, he forced his way into the first team in 2014/15 as a result of Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny’s exile. The Colombian initially did quite well after keeping nine clean sheets in 22 appearances.
However, it didn’t stop the North London club as they went ahead to acquire the services of Petr Cech and since then he’s been experienced drawbacks, though picking up an FA Cup medal in the 2017 win over London rivals Chelsea.
Arsenal’s signing of Bernd Leno last season was the final nail in the coffin for the Colombian, although Arsenal’s short of goal keepers didn’t pose a better option for him, with Emi Martinez expected to step up to the number 2 position next season.
David Ospina leaves the Emirates Club having played a total 70 games. Good luck to him in the Italian Second best team Napoli.
